A quick trip down the memory lane for us as we celebrate our 10th anniversary in Hong Kong! Over the years, we have seen many little smiling faces coming through our training programs as they spent one-on-one time with their football legend idols. We are very grateful to our WBC alumnae who continue to support our local cause and to bring forth the Wallsend spirit to our neck of the woods.

2024

New squad, new year! This time, we have something new, something old, something borrowed and something family, consisting of two ex-HKFC junior players, some players from our 2019 team as well as three new players from the UK. The typical HK rain graced us over the weekend but it didn't dampen our mood whatsoever. Our squad comfortably won the group but unfortunately lost during the semi's, losing 1-0 in extra time sudden death. Alas, the injuries that we picked up along the way hindered our tactics! It was still a fantastic weekend for us, especially with the Crusaders rallying for us during our first match!

2023

After three years of hiatus due to Covid, the Wallsend Boys Club Hong Kong was able to rally up the troops for the HKFC Citi Soccer Sevens. They came, they played, and they conquered! Back-to-back win for the WBC HK Team. Well-played, gents!

2019

A fantastic year for Wallsend Boys Club HK! We had our pro-stars, Alan Shearer, Alan Jarvis and John Watson visiting in May, sharing their experiences with the boys and girls at one of our local NGOs, Po Leung Kuk. To make things even sweeter, our WBC HK Team played AND won at the Soccer Sevens held at Hong Kong Football Club! Hats off to all!

2018

We were very fortunate to put together a smashing team for the Citibank Soccer Sevens this year - headlining with Micky Bridges, Steve Howey and Keith Gillespie. Amazing efforts all round with a narrow 2-1 loss in the semi final! During their week in Hong Kong, the team spent time with the children at Po Leung Kuk school along with the Newcastle U23s while handing out little football kits all around.

2017

It was a star-studded year for Wallsend Boys Club Hong Kong, with English Premier League legend Alan Shearer coming to town to help with our fund-raising efforts. Having him in town, sharing his experience as a boy growing up within WBC UK and his success story into pro football, really helped connect our local benefactors to what we do and to the Wallsend Way. During his visit, we visited children at Po Leung Kuk school as well held training sessions with future footballers from other charitable organizations.

2016

Our third year having the Wallsend Boys Club team in the Soccer Sevens! This year, our A-listers include legends like Daniel McBreen, Peter Beardley and our WBC ambassador, Terry McDemott. Having these great WBC alumni in town truly helped raise our awareness and highlighted the work we want to do: offering football to working-class children in the tougher districts of Hong Kong.

2015

2014

Wallsend Boys Club Team debut in Asia marks the beginning of Wallsend Boys Club Hong Kong branch! We competed at the Citibank Hong Kong Soccer Sevens Masters under the scorching May conditions and we played phenomenally. The team featured some of our ex-WBC pro footballers: Peter Beardsley, Alan Thompson, Michael Bridges, John Watson, Paul Malcolm, and Mick Tait. Although we were eventually knocked out by the USRC, it was a fantastic competition and a great opportunity to spread the word about Wallsend Boys Club. Our football stars also hosted an afternoon session with 50+ local school children, working on drills and having a few games. This whirlwind tour wouldn't have come to fruition without the Wallsend Boys Club Hong Kong Chairman, Tony Sealy, and Deputy Chairman, Neil Jensen. What a showcase of "The Wallsend Way"!
